Stardew Valley
April 6, 2025
I started Stardew Valley in Android a few months ago. Then copied the save to Steam and finished it there. It has been a great journey. In the end this game was 220 hours (not counting retries), and in Android I accidentally deleted my very first save that was around 30 hours and was not able to recover it.
Initially I just played without any kind of expectations, just enjoying and relaxing. In the end the most enjoyable part for me was not handling the farm, but interacting with the villagers, knowing their story, helping them, and forming a family.
Once I completed the first part of the game, I started to check the Stardew Valley official wiki and was doing the things I missed with a normal walkthrough and to figure out the parts I missed for the pending achievements. Like which items should I send, hidden secrets, etc. in the end I managed to reach the Perfection achievement, and actually finish the game. The last thing I did was to gather money for the Golden Clock that was 10M. I did it by mostly planting ancient seeds and skipping days (I didn't skip days until then), and harvesting once per week.
I changed the gameplay strategy multiple times during the gameplay, adapting to each moment needs of scaling in or scaling out stuff to optimise benefit, to achieve what was needed at each point, and progressively reduce times, since you have to manage time in-game to actually be able to do all the things you want each day. One thing that used to do in the early game was to do like in Memento, and put in-game notes in home's door, so I was forced to read them before leaving to remember things I wanted to do, since sometimes it was several days between gameplay sessions and I forgot the focus.

Once finished Perfection, I went for Journey of the Prairie King game and achievement. The last achievement was to finish the game without dying once. It was going to be thought. After checking on the Internet, it seemed that you could just play one level without dying, then going to sleep and restarting the game if dying, to avoid failing the achivement. The thing is that going and return to the farm everytime was time consuming.
After beating the arcade minigame for the first time, you get a mail with an arcade machine you can bring home. But I preferred to get both achivements at once: beating the game, and doing it perfectly. So I remembered the item that I almost never used to put up a tent, sleep and save. So I crafted many tents, did one level, then exited The Stardrop Saloon, and put a tent to save and to start near the arcade machine + eating lucky plates each day to reduce retry times.
I also changed how I played: I used a controller for the whole game: initially on Android, then on PC. But for this minigame, shooting diagonals right was really important, and with the controller was harder. So for the latest levels I switched to keyboard and mouse and after lots of tries I managed to beat the game "without dying" 🤷 lol:
BTW Junimo's Kart beating the 50K points in infinite mode was also infuriating god-like level. I did it like 3 times thinking it would be easier with experience. One time I got 49990 points 🤦. And somehow yes after figuring out some strategies, but still hardcore as hell.
Then the last achievement was being part of Joja and paying for all the community improvements. I couldn't do it in my main save, so I started a new game. But it was boring at that point starting from scratch, and I didn't want to invest time on that save. So I checked how to modify that save to put a lot of money to do it faster, and focused only on the Joja's missions until the achievement was triggered. I created a grey funny character for that. It was also fun to do the new gameplay with plenty of money and all the knowledge of the first gameplay:
For those last achievements, I designed a strategy for finishing the game and created a task list to do so. I checked in the phone, then played on the TV with a controller:
Going to miss playing Stardew Valley; but it was a super enjoyable experience. Thanks for creating this game ConcernedApe! ♥️
